Trauma-Informed Principles & Nervous System Awareness

Many high-achieving adults with ADHD have spent years appearing capable, successful and in control, while privately navigating emotional overwhelm, sensory overload, exhaustion and an almost constant pressure to keep going. You may hold everything together at work, only to feel completely depleted or unable to cope when you get home.
For adults diagnosed with ADHD later in life, these experiences bring a new understanding of years spent masking, overcompensating, and struggling with expectations. Whether overwhelm shows up as sudden intense emotion or shutting down and needing deep recovery, coaching provides a path toward sustainable capacity.
What We Can Explore Together
My approach recognises that emotional regulation, sensory processing differences, and past experiences all shape how we respond to everyday challenges.
Emotional Regulation
Sensory Overload
Nervous System Awareness
Understanding how ADHD can affect emotional responses, recognising patterns of frustration, overwhelm or emotional intensity, and exploring ways to respond with greater awareness and self-compassion.
Recognising how noise, light, busy environments, social demands and other sensory experiences contribute to stress and exhaustion. Together, we explore ways to better accommodate your sensory needs.
Learning to recognise your individual signs of stress, heightened arousal, overwhelm or shutdown, and exploring grounding and self-regulation practices that feel supportive and appropriate for you.
Masking & Overcompensating
Influence of Past Experiences
Exploring the emotional and physical toll of constantly appearing capable, meeting external expectations and pushing beyond your limits, particularly for high-achieving and late-diagnosed ADHD adults.
Acknowledging how repeated criticism, difficult experiences and long-standing coping patterns influence your confidence, emotional responses and relationship with yourself, creating room for authentic healing.
A Compassionate, Non-Judgemental Space
I offer a supportive environment where we can explore your experiences with curiosity, build self-awareness, and develop personalized approaches that honor your nervous system.
*My ADHD coaching incorporates trauma-informed principles but does not provide trauma therapy or therapeutic trauma processing. Where additional therapeutic support is needed, I encourage working with an appropriately qualified mental health professional*
